Sebastien Archibald, Playwright-in-Residence & Co-Artistic Director, is an award winning Actor, Playwright, and Director based out of Vancouver. Past credits include Grimm Tales (ITSAZOO), Casualties of Progress (ITSAZOO), Charlotte’s Web (Kaleidoscope), Death of a Clown (Victoria Fringe), and Guys and Dolls (Phoenix Theatre). Sebastien can also be seen in the short film Ripples and the feature length film Nana. Sebastien is graduate of the Theatre Program at the University of Victoria.
Colby Wilson, Co-Artistic Director, holds a BFA from the University of Victoria. Past ITSAZOO performances include Peter in The Zoo Story, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Tweedle Dee in Alice in Wonderland, Sam in Sex On The Beach, Dutch in Death of a Clown, Bernie in Casualties of Progress, and Hansel in Grimm Tales (Winner of the 2007 M Award for Favourite Actor). Other performances include Charlotte's Web (Kaleidoscope), Zastrozzi (Enlightenment), and Aladdin (Kaleidoscope). Colby can be seen in The Break Up Artist (Legacy), She’s The Man (Dreamworks), The Invisible (Spyglass/Touchstone), The Party Never Stops (Lifetime), and The Book of Ruth (CBS); he has also made appearances in Supernatural (CW), The Middleman (ABC), Psych (USA), Smallville (CW), and Andromeda (Tribune/Fireworks). Colby made his directorial debute with The Wannabe Nemeses at ITSAZOO’s inaugural Four Course Meal Festival.
Chelsea Haberlin, General Manager & Co-Artistic Director Chelsea is the one of the co-founders of ITSAZOO Productions. She directed ITSAZOO’s Five Red Balloons (Havana 2008), Grimm Tales (2007/2008 Mount Douglas Park and Queen Elizabeth Park), Casualties of Progress (April 2008 PAL Theatre), Death of a Clown (2006 Victoria Fringe Festival/2009 PAL Theatre), Alice in Wonderland (Finnerty Gardens, UVic), A Midsummer Nights Dream (Finnerty Gardens, UVic) and The Zoo Story (Director’s Festival, UCFV). Chelsea also produces and directs applied theatre projects most recently producing a series of forum theatre scenes for the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Chelsea graduated from the University of Victoria with a BFA in Theatre.
David Benedict Brown, Artistic Associate, David is a local artist who has learned that creating original work is the most relavent form of theatre currently being presented. It was a long haul, arriving at this conclusion: to exclusively dedicate his energies to original scripts createdby himself and his friends, but he will not look back. David studied at Douglas College and from there studied Bio-Kinetics, Clowning and other schools of theatre thought surround the minds of Michael Checkhov, Jerzy Grotowsky and David MacMurray Smith. From there he studied briefly at the American Clown conservatory taking various short intensive to further his Clowning practice. Since training David has produced many productions in Vancouver under his own society, Enlightenment Theatre—Collage: an Homage to Kurt Schwitters (directed by David and Ashley Rutherford), Zastrozzi the Master of Discipline (directed by Emilio Salituro) and Michael in Primetime (written by David and directed by Evelyn Chew). David joined forces with ITSAZOO in 2010, after the Bridge Mix Theatrical event that inspired several companies to create theatre within the confines of a downtown Vancouver parkade; he cannot wait to continue to be a part of the Vancouver theatre scene with his new buddies at ITSAZOO!
Devon Taylor, Front of House Manager, Programme Designer, and Production Photographer is a native of Vancouver and returned home in 2006 after four years at the University of Victoria where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a major in Acting. Selected credits for theatre include, The Love of the Nightingale, HE Who Gets Slapped, That Elusive Spark, Metamorphoses and Top Girls.
Devon has helped out with ITSAZOO since its inception, but in the spring of 2008, she joined the “Zoo Crew” as the full time Front of House Manager, Program Designer, and Production Photographer. To date she has enjoyed working on Casualties of Progress, Grimm Tales (in Vancouver and Victoria) and Four Course Meal in this full time capacity. She is looking forward to the ongoing success of this talented production company.
Currently Devon attends BCIT where she is studying Broadcast Journalism. She will graduate in 2010 with a Diploma of Business.
Meredith Grantier, Designer in Residence, is a graduate of Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology’s Theatre Department and holds a BFA Theatre Major from the University of Victoria. She has been active with ITSAZOO since its inaugural production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a co-production with her company Sour Grapes. Her Costume Design and Wardrobe Co-ordination credits with ITSAZOO include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Casualties of Progress, Indiana Jones and the Wannabe Nemeses, Five Red Balloons, The Road to Canterbury and Death of a Clown for which she earned a 2009 Jessie Richardson Award nomination for Outstanding Costume Design-Small Theatre.
Kyle Sutherland, Designer in Residence. Kyle’s past credits with ITSAZOO Productions include designing and constructing the set and props for this summer’s Robin Hood, the spring 2010 tour of Death of a Clown, summer 2009’s The Road to Canterbury, the 2009 Vancouver premiere of Death of a Clown, along with 2008’s Four Course Meal and Casualties of Progress. Since graduating from UVIC’s Theatre Program in 2004, he has worked as a Theatre Technician and Scenic Carpenter in Montreal and Calgary, spent a year and a half perfecting his scenic carpentry skills at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta, built custom cabinetry and installations for numerous companies in Vancouver, and currently works as a freelance designer and as a Lead Scenic Carpenter at the Great Northern Way Scene Shop in Vancouver.
